Cooking Instructions - July 2006 MenuWhen thawing freezer bags be sure to place them in a bowl or baking dish in the fridge in case of leakage. If you forget to thaw you can thaw in the microwave, or increase the cooking time by about 25 minutes for the foil pans. Lentil Walnut Burgers – Fry in small amount of hot oil on both sides until heated through and crispy on outside. Or broil for 5-8 minutes on each side. Galloping horses (kabobs) - Bake at 350 for 45 minutes, or if grilling, grill for 20-25 minutes or until done. Serve over a bed of white rice. Mexican Tomato Lime Soup-To serve hot: Pour ingredients into sauce pan and heat gently. Allow to simmer for 1-2 minutes. Place crushed tortilla chips in bottom of soup bowl. Pour soup over. Top with grated cheese and a scoop of sour cream. To serve cold: Chill soup in fridge until cold. Pour into soup bowls and top with a scoop of sour cream and chunks of avocado. Blackened Salmon – Pan Fry: on med high on both sides until crust has turned a rich dark brown if salmon is not cooked to your desired doneness place in oven until fish flakes easly with a fork. Grill: Preheat grill. Remove salmon steaks from plastic wrap. Over low to medium heat, grill steaks for 10 minutes on one side. Flip and grill for 5 – 7 minutes or until meat flakes easily with a fork. Oven: Preheat oven to 450°. Place steaks in single layer in greased pan. Bake for 10 minutes or until meat flakes easily with a fork. Cottage Cheese Apple Pancakes - To cook: Over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of butter in a large skillet. Drop pancake batter in ¼ cup amounts into skillet. When bubbles form on tops and the bottoms are browned, flip pancakes over and brown other side. Serve immediately, with maple syrup and sour cream. Apple Sherry Pork Loins - Thaw in fridge overnight. Place contents of bag in shallow baking bake in preheated 375 oven for 50 minutes or until juices run clear when pierced. Serve with white rice and stir fried greens. Pour the sauce over everything. Spicy Orange Chicken –Place contents of bag in a skillet with a cover and simmer until meat is tender, Serve over rice with a green veg. Malayasian Style BBQ Chicken Wings – Thaw in Fridge overnight. Lightly oil grill and preheat to high heat. Remove wings from marinade and discard remaining marinade. Grill chicken wings over preheated grill for 8 to 12 minutes each side, or until cooked through and juices run clear. Great Snack or serve with a spinach salad for a main dish. Cheesy Asparagus Quiche - Thaw egg mixture in fridge, in a bowl, overnight. Leave pie shell frozen until ready to use. Preheat oven to 375°. Remove pie shell from freezer bag. Remove wax paper. Gently pour egg mixture over top of cheese in pie shell. Place in oven and bake 35-40 minutes until middle is set and top is golden. If pie shell edges are beginning to get too brown, cover gently with strips of foil. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes before serving. Serve with a leafy salad and buttered toast triangles. Lemon, Garlic Shrimp Pasta – Thaw in fridge overnight and heat gently on the stove top until hot. Creamy and tasty this supper will be on the table in minutes. Serve with a side of greens. Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Chicken - Thaw in fridge overnight. Place in skillet sear bacon. Place in preheated oven 375of for approx 55 min or until cooked through and juices run clear Steaks with Mustard Peppercorn Sauce – Thaw in fridge overnight. Grill or pan sear these steaks. Do not over cook. Place pan gravy in a small sauce pan and heat until it thickens to a gravy. Serve over steaks. Serve with roasted veggies and a roll. SIDES - Thaw all sides except for Sweet Potato Fries in fridge. Serve pastas hot or cold add some cheese and you have another meal. Thaw coleslaw in fridge. Heat rice in micro wave to desired temperature. Rice can be heated from frozen in microwave. Sweet Potato Fries - Preheat oven to 400 place frozen fries on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and bake for approx 10 minutes turn and continue for another 10 minutes or until desired crispness is achieved. |
