Cooking Instructions - Summer 2010 Menu

 

When thawing freezer bags be sure to place them in a bowl or baking dish in the fridge in case of leakage. If you forget to thaw you can thaw in the microwave or increase the cooking time by about 25 minutes for the foil pans. If bag contains sauce mixture rinse with a little water to get everything out. Some meals will take up to 2 days to completely thaw. Contact Jackie if you have any questions 780-479-8175.

Teriyaki Chicken – Thaw in fridge overnight.
Place contents of bag in an ovenproof dish and bake, uncovered at 325 degrees for about 1 hour until tender and slightly browned.

Hazelnut Garlic Stuffed Pork Loin - Thaw in fridge overnight Preheat oven to 325. Brown chops in frying pan til you have a nice colour on each side finish cooking in the oven until cooked thru.

Spicy Orange Sirloin Steaks - Thaw in refrigerator overnight. Remove steak from marinade and grill to desired doneness. Bring the remaing marinade to a boil and serve over steak.

Brushetta Putanesca Topped Haddock Fillets - Thaw in refrigerator overnight. Pan fry haddock until almost done then toss the brushetta in the pan and cover and cook until flaky.

Ginger Port Salmon - Thaw in refrigerator overnight. Remove fish from marinade and grill to desired doneness. Bring the remaining marinade to a boil and serve over fish.

Stuffed Chicken Breasts Wrapped in Bacon - Thaw in refrigerator overnight. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Place chicken on a nonstick baking sheet and roast 20 to 22 minutes until bacon is crispy and chicken is firm.

Mahi Mahi with Spicy Pineapple Salsa - Thaw in refrigerator overnight. Brush the fish with oil and season with salt and pepper. Grill, pan fry or bake your fish until tender. Serve with pineapple salsa.

Empanadas Thaw in fridge overnight or increase the cooking time by approx: 10 minutes. Bake in a 350°f oven for 13 to 15 minutes until golden brown. Double the time if cooking from frozen. Serve with a salad of your choice.

 

Pan Fry Scallops with Papaya Salsa – Thaw in fridge overnight. Pan fry scallops in a mixture of butter and oil on med high to get a nice golden colour. Serve with papaya salsa.

Pork in a Chili Lime Chimicuri Sauce – Thaw in fridge. Remove pork from sauce and pan fry til almost done then add sauce to pan and finish cooking thru. Serve over cooked rice or pasta.

Mango Breakfast Bake – Thaw in fridge overnight, Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake strata uncovered until puffed and golden brown, about 45 minutes. Transfer pan to rack and cool 5 minutes. Serve with additional maple syrup if desired.
